How does glass skin fold in a faulty smartphone?

For the last few years, Falled smartphones have been making a lot of noise.  Of course, it is not raining as much as it is raining.  News has been circulating for a long time that Samsung, LG, Microsoft etc. are bringing foldable smartphones that can be folded like plain paper.  Eventually these companies introduced such smartphones but still they are not selling as much as they should - the high price is also a reason!

The first curiosity in our minds about such a smartphone is how to fold its glass screen.  The fact is that the Galaxy Z Flip phone, introduced by Samsung, is, of course, the first faulty phone to use a glass screen.  Corning is known for its strong glass screens of plain smartphones, which make smartphone displays under the Gorilla brandname.  Of course, Samsung's faulty phone doesn't use Corning's display.

Another slightly shocking thing.  The display in a faulty smartphone doesn't really fold, it just turns in the middle.  That is, the sharp crease that can be created by folding a paper does not occur in the glass display of a foldable phone.  The glass just bends in the middle of it, not sticking off.  Since the glass could not be folded at all, the work was first done with a plastic skin and then with a glass skin that could be done in such a way that it could be folded and kept away from each other after folding.

When a company like Microsoft, on the other hand, tried to create a new category of smartphones with two display screens called the Surface Duo, it opted to adopt a hinged design between the two parts like a laptop instead of folding the skin.

When the two parts of the phone are opened in the smartphone with the first type of foltable screen, the whole screen experience, while the benefit of two parts and hijys with hijys is obviously not met (some of these models can also be used separately by separating these two parts).

Instead of double or two screens, multitasking becomes easy, one of the app opened, on one hand, on the second part, the second app is easy to work by opening. The phone or tablet like Microsoft's Duo can enjoy reading like a book. Meanwhile, watching videos or movies in the blotable phone in Hijis.

Turning to foldable glass again, it is worth noting that foldable glass is nothing new.  The Corning Company has been working on easily bent glass for almost fifty years.

The company has developed a flexible glass fiber for fiber optic cable, which can work well even when bent at a 90 degree angle.  Glass screens have obvious advantages over plastic skins.  But the biggest challenge right now is to create a glass that can't be broken or permanently creased, even though the glass can be fully folded in a foldable smartphone.
